If you haven’t seen the pilot episode of Caprica yet then this is considered spoilers. (You should watch the pilot while its still online ! ) In the world of Caprica there are more than one Zoe Graystones walking around.
There of course is the original Zoe Graystone, who is murdered by her terrorist boyfriend along with countless others on a subway train. Original Zoe was a genius programmer just like her father Daniel Graystone. She was also a student, and a pain in the ass daughter to both her parents. Right before she died she got in a fight with her parents after they grounded her. She and her boyfriend Ben planned to move away from Caprica. Unbeknownst to Original Zoe, Ben had a bomb strapped to him and it detonated just as she came to the realization what was happening.
Original Zoe is dead, but we will see her in flashbacks.
Avatar Zoe Graystone is for all intents and purposes a virtual copy of the original Zoe. She resides inside a virtual world known as Club V. In an interview with ScifiWire Alessandra Torresani says that Avatar Zoe (Zoe-A) still exists.
Then I took Zoe-A, or avatar Zoe, as the sweet child or innocent [version] of what the original Zoe was earlier in her life. She is more naïve, because thinking is brand-new to her, so she’s a brand-new, newborn baby. So her eyes just light up when she sees certain things, but she’s deeply, deeply scared, and she is the innocent of the original Zoe. So the two of them, they make a perfect whole.
Finally there is Cylon Zoe, also known as Centurion Zoe or Zoe-R (robot). From the pilot we learned that Daniel Greystone put the Avatar Zoe programming into the centurion proto-type in an attempt to get his daughter back. While he thinks he failed, we learned in the final scene that he did indeed succeed. For all intents and purposes Cylon Zoe shares the same mind of Avatar Zoe.
So there you have it, the three Zoe Graystone’s, Original Zoe, Avatar Zoe, and Cylon Zoe.
