“It’s Not called Battlestar Galactica: Caprica for a Reason”

Toreson_Caprica_auction-thumb-330x529-17992[1] Caprica Executive Producer Jane Espenson told reporters at the Winter Press Tour that new viewers don’t have to feel obligated in watching BSG in order to enjoy Caprica. ““Legitimately, the show stands on its own… It’s not called Battlestar Galactica: Caprica [for a reason],” quotes EW.com

Caprica, like Battlestar Galactica, doesn’t treat the [sci-fi] genre like a toy department,” exec producer David Eick told reporters at Winter Press Tour. “We take it seriously.”

Translation: The drama, starring Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales, Polly Walker, and Paula Malcomson, will be brimming with BSG’s trademark moral complexity. “There are no stark good guys and bad guys,” said fellow e.p. Jane Espenson. “Everyone has moral shadings and we can tell very complex stories as a result.”

A Preview of Things to come on Caprica

The website io9.com received advanced copies of the pilot episode (which we’ve all scene by now) and the first two hour long episodes shot months after the pilot. io9.com concludes that the show does get to a slow start, that the premise is vaguely similar to Dollhouse (I’m assuming he’s referring to the “Attic”), but he’s hopeful that series will pick up and become fraking good.

The series was almost canned a few times, then finally Syfy gave the Pilot a green light, then after that it was almost canned again!

Now we are two weeks away from this new series.

By now we’ve all seen the pilot episode, and we already know how the story ends with the destruction of humanity, but how we get there is going to be fun!

What do you want for Festivus?

TV Squad writer Jason Hughes knows what he wants this holiday season. He wants Caprica to be as good as Battlestar Galactica.

Caprica to be as good as Battlestar Galactica was, or at least close. It doesn’t have to be the same, as I know it’s not, but it has to keep me on the edge of my seat and leave me contemplating theories and hovering in anticipation before each new installment.
